No, your child will not get so-called “digital dementia”
Comment by Anders Fjell
The german psychiatrists and brain researcher, Manfred Spitzer, was recently in Norway, and proclaimed that digital tools like tablets and laptops are very detrimental for children’s brain development and will ultimately lead to increased numbers of dementia cases in older age.
Anders Fjell combats these assumptions, as this type of thinking assumes that digital tools in no way can challenge the brain and thus help it develop. “If the child does nothing else than sit with a digital tool every waking hour, this is of course not healthy. But children and adolescents usually have several activities during the course of the day and week, and all these activities challenge the brain in different ways. This is good” – says Anders Fjell.
